Sastamala Museum
Lively and active museum of local history!
Sastamala Museum is a lively, 80-year-old cultural history museum that stores and displays the city’s history. We are known as a trustworthy partner: we do cultural heritage work together with the local community, making it participatory and accessible.
Our aim is to maintain and strengthen Sastamala’s current and future resident’s understanding of their culture, history, and environment. Our exibitions offer touching and interesting sights into the city’s diverse past. We also organize events, services, and activities related to cultural heritage.
The museum’s home is the charming 130-year-old Tower Villa that is located at Sastamala’s historic Kirjakortteli (the Book Quarter). The museums’s own shop serves customers during the museum’s opening hours. From the courtyard, you can find a beautiful verdant garden as well as our sister museum Pukstaavi with its quality services.
The same museum ticket gives you access to the Museum of Finnish Book Pukstaavi.
