In 2017, Sastamala celebrated the well-known folk healer Amanda Jokinen, also known as Tyrvää Manta (1853–1922). Her life’s work and the surrounding nature is honored by a nature trail that winds near the middle of the city through hilly terrain of the new Ranta-Kukkuri residential area.
The trail, named after Tyrvää Manta who used various plants for her remedies, is just over one kilometer long. It is marked and signposted, making it suitable for families with children. The route follows a natural path through varied terrain with interesting spots such as Troppikallio, Rohtorinne, and Parantajan ranta on the way. At the shore of Lake Rautavesi, you can take a journey way back in time: ahead lies Kalapirtinsaari, and across the shore stands Tyrvää St. Olaf’s Church.
The trailhead is located near Tampereentie 148, between Villinkatu and Ikalankatu, on the lakeside of the road opposite these streets.
