The hiking trail was renovated through volunteer work in 2020. Signs, markers, and maps have been updated, and the routes are clearly marked in the terrain.

Parking locations:
• Near the Pirulanvuori observation tower, at Laviantie 600, 38510 Sastamala
• Kaiturinjärvi parking area near Laviantie 463, 38510 Sastamala
• Alinen Vehkajärvi parking area at Vehkakoskentie 180, 38510 Sastamala

The terrain and scenery are highly varied, with the route passing through rocky landscapes, forest lake shores, and different types of forests. There are several rest and campfire sites along the way. Fishing is possible at the forest lakes in the area: https://www.kalapassi.fi/selaus/78 (in Finnish).

Families with children can, for instance, head to Kaituri’s hut for a small picnic.

Overnight accommodation for hikers is available on the shore of Alinen Vehkajärvi, where the local scout group Suodenniemen Suonkiertäjät owns a campsite. In addition to a log-built shelter, a lean-to and a cozy sauna are available for rent. See detailed rental information (in Finnish): http://suonkiertajat.blogspot.com/p/tilat.html

In summer, you can stop (about 6 km toward Tampere from the trail in Suodenniemi’s center) to admire maintenance sheep of the city grazing in beautiful rural scenery. The sheep pasture is located by Lake Kourajärvi in a grove near Kelaranta public beach.

Welcome to enjoy the nature of Suodenniemi! Read a great blog post about the Suodenniemi trail on Retkipaikka: https://retkipaikka.fi/seitseman-jarven-reitti-suodenniemella-sastamalassa/ (in Finnish)
